Research Director's Message

The UC Irvine School of Medicine's Department of Emergency Medicine conducts innovative research to prevent injury and disease. Emergency departments are the front door to all that ails our society and they sit at the crossroads for almost all other medical specialties. It is only natural that we as emergency medicine specialists are the shepherds of that discovery process. Our faculty members have a multitude of research interests, including:
We are a collaborative team that is eager to strengthen our translational research presence with other medical specialties and other branches of science. The department is an active site for several research consortium groups. We also have research staff dedicated to supporting our enterprise and a well-established emergency medicine research associates program, which helps in the collection of data for our studies.
