Meet our new interns!

The class of 2020 joined our emergency medicine residency program this summer. Our 29th residency class joined us from UC San Diego, UC Davis, UC Irvine, Oregon Health Sciences, University of Iowa, Texas Tech, and Creighton University School of Medicine.

Emergency Medicine continues to become one of the most sought after specialty choices for graduating medical students. Over 2700 applicants applied for approximately 2000 spots across the nation in 2017, with the number of EM applicants growing by 15% over the past three years.

The class of 2020 was selected among a highly competitive group who applied to our emergency medicine residency program. In addition to their medical degree, two of our interns hold advanced degrees in public health and public policy. Our interns include a former Army combat medic, three members of Alpha Omega Alpha honors society, three members of Gold Humanism Honor Society, a former track and field All American, and several Emergency Medicine Interest Group (EMIG) presidents. Their average USMLE Step II score was 246.

The intern class has integrated seamlessly into our residency family. We look forward to watching the careers of these future leaders in emergency medicine.
